DCSS 2003-2004 Newsletter

05 Jan 04

Dear all,

I am sitting in my new office, (Janet wanted her spare bedroom back, so we converted the garage with John & Dawns help (you know Janet’s Café) (actually I helped them) and I am amazed at the fantastic year this has been for the company.

Many of you only work on one or two shows during the year and never realize just how many shows we are involved with, so here’s a quick run down:

May: Southampton Institute Summer Ball – International Festival of the Sea in Edinburgh – Homelands Festival, Winchester.

June: EMINEM, Milton Keynes – Blenheim Palace Flower Show – Summer XS Roadshows – Bon Jovi, Hyde Park – Glastonbury.

July: Party In The Park & Shania Twain in Hyde Park – Big Chill, Eastnor – T in the Park, Kinross, Scotland – Guilfest Festival – Lewisham People’s Day – Mardi Gras in Hyde Park – Lulworth Horse Trials – Thunderparks, Brands Hatch – Womad Festival.

August: Fly To The Past, Blenheim – Reading & Leeds Festival – Kenwood Summer Concerts – Robbie Williams, Knebworth House.

September: Three Tenors, Bath – Eurostar Inaugural Event, Kent – Proms in the Park, Hyde Park – Trafalgar Square Show - Limp Bizkit, Finsbury Park – Red Bull, Hyde Park.

December: Festival of Christmas, Dockyards, Portsmouth - A Christmas Children’s Event, at The Millennium Dome.

December also saw the Staff Party, held at the Central Station, King’s Cross, London (it’s a pub actually) with Nikki (Janet’s Café again) providing the entertainment. This was the best party ever with silly games, Karaoke and great dance music. If you missed it we will try and repeat it next year. There is a plan to hold a second party in the North so that the “Leeds Team” can be there as we realize that for many of you, it is too far or costly to come to London.

A special thanks to you all, as due to all your hard work promoters and event organisers think that the company is fantastic, but we are only as good as the staff who join us. Many of you do not apply or are not willing to work on any of the litter events, but sometimes you are missing out on great events and might even find that you enjoy the work.

This letter will be going to Poland, as many of our staff come from there and we hope that they will come back again next year and that they have enjoyed working with us. I just wish that I could speak Polish to help me to say thank you and to make sure that you come to Scotland again.

We will be sending forms giving you information about the shows that we will be involved with, but these will not be sent out until March or April as the only shows that are arranged at the moment are Homelands, Reading & Leeds, T in the Park (Scotland) and Proms in the Park (I Hope).

Please watch the web site www.dcsiteservices.com for future information as I will try to keep you all informed when we have shows confirmed, but sometimes we only get two or three weeks notice.

The website also carrys an application form for you to fill in, another will be sent through via snail mail.

Best wishes to all of you for 2004 and we hope to see some or all of you during the year.

Dick & Janet
